Gardening ideals in Australia are strongly influenced by the twin forces of colonialism and commodification, each of which selects in favour of exogenous ideals at odds with adaptation. The ideals of commodified gardening are determined by the world of profit, sales and advertising. Early colonial artists accessed their European training in art to depict Australia like Europe, not how it actually looks. One artist who did manage to attain a sense of regional definition was Convict artist W.B Gould but rather than find his uniqueness . Never has Australia had a workforce that asked for so little and yet produced so much. The Dogs That Made Australia is a vividand meticulously researched history of Australia told through the story of the dingo, the dogs that were imported and bred here, and the humans who loved, feared and worked them.4/5(5).
